MANHATTAN SHORT 2024 Finalists Announced

New York NY August 20, 2024: MANHATTAN SHORT today announced its Ten Finalists for its 27th Annual Short Film Festival, a worldwide event taking place in over 500 venues across six continents between September 26 and October 6, 2024. MANHATTAN SHORT is the only event of its kind. The ten Finalists will screen simultaneously across the world during a one-week period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue. By virtue of their selection by MANHATTAN SHORT, each short film is automatically Oscar-qualified.

The Ten MANHATTAN SHORT Finalists hail from eight countries with films from United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Ukraine, Italy, France, Australia, Croatia, and Ireland as well as two films from the USA.

The MANHATTAN SHORT Final Ten are:
The Talent (UK), I'm Not a Robot (The Netherlands), Mother (Ukraine), Dovecote (Italy), Pathological (USA), Alarms (France), Favourites (Australia), The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent (Croatia), Room Taken (Ireland), Jane Austen's Period Drama (USA).

All Final Ten short films become Oscar-qualified, meaning they will be automatically eligible for an Academy Award nomination by screening for a week at the Arena Cinelounge in Hollywood in the county of Los Angeles.

OSCAR QUALIFYING RUN

MANHATTAN SHORT 2024 will run for one full week at a Cinema in the county of Los Angeles. This theater booking means every film selected as a FINALIST in the 2024 MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival will be eligible to enter the Oscar competition for 2025. MANHATTAN SHORT is now in compliance with the rules governing the Oscar Awards set forth by the Academy of Motion Pictures of Arts and Sciences A.M.P.A.S.

Filmmakers have until midnight July 31st to submit their short film. There are no late deadlines. We accept all genres. Films must be 20 minutes and under (excluding credits).
